Financial Assistance Program

The Personal Financial Assistance Program provides counseling education, and information in the area of personal financial management to active duty military,  retirees,  guard and reservists, DoD civilians and families thereof.

The new Marine Corps Order stipulates the following:
"...every Command shall have a Command Financial Specialist (CFS) E-6 and above. The CFS will be trained to assist Marines at the unit level with financial education and counseling. The CFS will provide statistics to the Personal Financial Manager (PFM) on classes number of attendees, and number of Marines counseled."

Classes/Seminars:

Banking

Anyone who has a paycheck needs to use banking and financial services. This program will help you understand all the products and services available to you, pick the ones that best meet your needs, and manage them appropriately.

Basic Budgeting

Provides individuals the know how to develop a personal budget, to reach indentified short & long range goals, a system to pay bills on time & evaluate the personal budget to spend less & save/invest more.

Car Buying

How to select a vehicle, get a fair deal & avoid fraudulent advertising.
Checkbook Management Skills This program shows how to use the checkbook register, manage your checking account and reconcile the bank statement.
• Command Financial Specialist Training Course A 40-hour course designed to train SNCO's and Company Grade Officers on how to develop a Personal Financial Management (PFM) training program at the unit level. Topics to be covered include budgeting, cash flow management, establishing/managing credit, debt reduction, consumer rights, risk management (insurance) & more. Participants will receive financial software designed to assist them in their unit training & counseling needs.
Credit & Debt Management Headed for trouble with your charge cards? For a lot of people credit is both misunderstood & misused. One out of every ten families can only afford to make the minimum monthly payment - which is usually a mere 2% of their current balance. Learn how to take control of debt.

Debt Reduction

There is a plan to get out of financial debt that we find ourselves in. By using these 7 financial steps and the use of www.powerpay.org, we can be "Debt Free" in a shorter time and then grow wealth.
• Savings/Investing Basics the program is an introduction to savings and investing. This program also explains the difference between saving & investing, the "Stock Market" & its risks, different kinds of investments & investment concepts.
