questions? Is your spouse deployed and you're feeling
overwhelmed? Professional home visitors are available to
assist with any of your parenting needs including the
transition of your newborn into your home, discipline
issues, safety, potty training, couple issues, and any other
concerns that parents of young children often have. |

Daddy's Baby Boot
Camp & Mom's Basic Training Class |
Dads and Moms
with children age birth to one year will get a hands-on
experience learning to adjust to being a new father.
Moms-to-be learn how to make a smooth transition to
motherhood. This class addresses topics such as:
• Learn infant care & child safety
• Discuss you child's physical & emotional development
• Learn strategies for effective discipline with children of
all ages
• Discuss & prepare for the rollercoaster of emotions
• Address feelings about balancing your growing family &
your relationship with each other
This two day class meets 8:30am-3pm on the 3rd Wednesday &
Thursday of each month. Please call & register for upcoming

This class meets 11:00am to
1:00pm every Tuesday for eight weeks (Bring your lunch).
Designed to address parenting styles and meeting the needs
of children at various stages of development. Please call

Mom's Group |

Adult
conversation where moms can come to share
ideas, joys, frustrations, and support other mother’s in
their everyday challenges. Every Monday from 3:00pm
to 4:00pm except Holidays. Feel free to invite other Moms to
join you! |

If you plan to deliver your baby at Carteret General
Hospital a five week birthing class with he sixth week
focusing on breastfeeding is available. The fee associated
with this class is $65.75. Please contact Edna Taylor at

please call early.

The women's center provides a six week childbirth class
costing $65.00 & a separate breastfeeding class costing

WIC stands for
Women, Infants & Children & is also called the Special
Supplemental Nutrition Program. WIC is a federal program
designed to provide food to pregnant, postpartum &
breastfeeding women, infants & children until the age of
five. The program provides a combination of nutrition
education, supplemental foods, breastfeeding promotion &
support, & referrals for health care.
WIC Cherry Point is now offering a breastfeeding class every
60 days. Please call the WIC office at 447-0123 to register
or make an appointment for eligibility. |

Budgeting for
Baby- This 2˝-hour seminar is conducted monthly and is
open to Navy and Marine families who are expecting a baby or
who have just had one. Its purpose is to make service
members and their families aware of the increased living
expenses that come with a new baby, and to discuss effective
ways of making adjustments to spending and saving habits.

Visiting Nurse
The Visiting Nurse is available to make hospital or home
visits to eligible clients in the interest of improving
their quality of life by promoting understanding of
information about the individual's health issues. Visits are
frequently made to new mothers and infants, to patients
recovering from surgery, and to patients with chronic health
problems. The Visiting Nurse will see patients of any age.
