LifeSkills is a new addition to Marine Corps Family Team Building. Providing Education and Resources to Marine Corps Families assisting them in thriving in the Marine Corps Lifestyle.

 

Lifeskills Courses Include:

Strengthening Your Love Connection:  - An interactive workshop designed to help married couples gain an understanding of their own personality style as well as the personality style of their spouse. By learning about each other's personality styles, participants will improve their relationships by enhancing their communication.
Parenting Teens:  - An interactive workshop designed especially for teens and parents who want to improve their communication. Participants will learn more about each other's personality type and communication type.
Parenting Tweens:  - A workshop designed to help participants learn more about the developmental milestones of the tween years and how to effectively communicate with their tween.
Conflict Management:  - A workshop created to help participants learn more about the levels of conflict, types of conflict management styles and how to resolve conflicts effectively.
Getting the Monkey Off Your Back:  - This workshop will cover specific stressors faced during a deployment, typical stress reactions of spouses, and mechanisms for coping effectively with stress.
Bridging the Gap: Communicating for Deployment:  - A workshop designed for individuals who want to learn ways to communicate effectively and maintain an intimate connection with their partner during a deployment.
Family Care Plans:  - Learn who needs a family care plan, what should be included in an effective family care plan and how to construct one.
Aging Parents and Eldercare:  - This workshop discusses the stages of care giving, communication techniques for caregivers, caregiver guilt and homecare options.
4 Lenses:  - Through a self-scored personality assessment, participants will learn about their own personality traits and the personality traits of the people around them. By learning about various personality types, participants will improve their communication, leadership and teamwork abilities.
Casualty Brief:  - This brief is designed to provide information on the marine Corps casualty process and procedures.
Spouses' Leaning Series: Leadership Skills Workshop (LSW):  - This four hour interactive, educational workshop provides participants the opportunity to improve interpersonal skills, become a more effective communicator and facilitate better team building. Participants take self-scored personality assessment and learn how their personality type relates to and can interact more effectively with others.
Spouses' Leaning Series: Motivational Workshop:  - Featuring Jacey Eckhart, successful author, syndicated columnist, and the creative drive behind the deployment CD "These Boot: A Spouse's Guide to Stepping Up and Standing Tall During Deployment",. available through Military OneSource. This inspirational workshop is designed to provide spouses with the opportunity to gain a working knowledge of personal communication styles and personality types, and to use the new understanding of self to improve communication and relationships with their spouses, family, friends, and co-workers. Marine spouses are encouraged to define their lifek-challenges and the needed support systems to help restore balance to their military family during a time of war.
