Lifelong Learning attempts to enhance the Quality of Life for Marine Corps personnel and their family members by providing a wide range of services to support their professional, intellectual, and recreational needs. Lifelong Learning oversees both traditional and non-traditional educational degree programs located at the Joint Education Center, and seeks to further stimulate the lifelong learning process by offering and integrating both the Joint Education Center and Library Services.

 

On Base Schools and Programs:

Craven Community College - 466-5020
Associate degrees, Vo/Tech Diplomas and certificates, high school completion, GED testing and continuing education.
Park College - 466-2655
Bachelor of Science degrees in Management, Human Resources, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Industrial Security, Criminal Justice Administration, Social Psychology, Finance and Logistics.

In addition, Park College offers classes for the deployed education program coordinated through the education office for all units deploying on the east coast.

MASP (Military Academic Skills Program) An on duty education program with overall objectives of improving the competencies of active duty enlisted personnel in the academic skills of reading, mathematics and communication/writing.

Proctor services for distance learning/independent study enrollments.
Counseling is provided for educational pursuits, tuition assistance, correspondence course, education/commissioning programs, VA benefits/financial aid, and evaluation of military learning experiences for college credit. (Smart Transcripts)
  Apprenticeship Program:
United Services Military Apprenticeship Program (USMAP) through HQMC and US Dept of Labor available for 87 various MOS's.

  MASP:
The MASP, developed and offered by Headquarters Marine Corps, is an on-duty Education program with overall objectives of improving the competencies of active duty enlisted personnel in the academic skills of reading, math and communication/writing.
  Eligibility:
 
Enlisted personnel with a General Technical (GT) score of 104 or below.
Enlisted personnel who score below 10.2 (10th grade) on the Test for Adult Basic Education (TABE). Pre-test and Post-test of the TABE will be administered by the Education Office.
Enlisted personnel referred by Commanding Officer to improve performance through reading, math and communication/writing skills.
MASP classes are offered through the Education Office, Bldg 4335, room 104. It is requested that unit/squadron Education Officers/Career Planners via Commanding Officers provide name, SSN, unit/squadron name, and duty phone of eigible enlisted personnel needing the class. The Education Office is located in the Jerry W. Marvel Training/Education Facility, Bldg 4335 and may be reached at extension 3500/4358. As class size is limited, please provide names of eligible personnel ASAP.
