2008 Swimming and Aquatics Safety Classes
The Cherry Point Semper Fit Aquatics Division has scheduled many American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim classes for 2008.
Registrations for all Learn-to-Swim classes will be held at the Marine Dome from 1000 until 1500 on the Saturday preceding the beginning of the class. Please review the Learn-to-Swim levels, and the schedule of dates, and times. Adult only swim classes are also offered for each swim session. All lessons are $30 per student per session (1 session is 8 classes). Class dates/times may be adjusted as required. If there are any questions, please call 466-2510 for more information.
AMERICAN RED CROSS Learn-to-Swim Courses:
The six levels and the objectives for each level include:
 

Level 1

Introduction to Water Skills. Helps students feel comfortable in the water and enjoy the water safely.

Level 2

Fundamental Aquatic Skills. Gives students success with fundamental skills.

Level 3

Stroke Development. Builds on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice.

Level 4

Stroke Improvement. Develops confidence in the strokes already learned and improves other aquatic skills.

Level 5

Stroke Refinement. Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes.

Level 6

Swimming and Skill Proficiency. Refines the strokes so students swim with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Level 6 is designed with "menu" options. Each of these options focus on preparing students to participate in more advance courses, such as Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training. The options include:

Level 6 Lifeguard Readiness
Level 6 Fundamentals of Diving
Level 6 Fitness Swimming
   
For Our Youngest Patrons from 6 months to 3-5 years old:
Parent and Child Aquatics
• Target: parents and children ages 1-4
• Increases a child's comfort level in the water and builds a foundation of basic skills, such as arm and leg movements and breath control.
• Teaches a parent how to hold and support their child safely and appropriately in the water to prepare them for a good learn-to-swim experience.
• Once able to perform basic skills without parents, they may move into the learn-to-swim levels.

 
Private Pool Parties at Cedar Creek Pool and Hancock Pool. Beginning Friday, May 31 - Sunday, August 31, the Cedar Creek Pool :& the Hancock Pools may be scheduled for private pool parties. The pools are available Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays, 7-9pm. An hourly fee is charged based on the number of persons attending the party.

Reservations must be made over the phone. Payment must be made in person at least 10 days prior to the party in the Marine Dome, Office #7.
