TRANSITION ASSISTANCE & FAMILY MEMBER EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TAMP-FMEAP) - Bldg 232, Office 157 • 466-4401

Transition Assistance Management Program (TAMP): provides resources and assistance to military member and their family members who are discharged from the military.
 

 

TAP:

a mandatory briefing required by MCO 1754.5 to be taken between 180-90 days before your release date. The briefing is held Wednesday - Friday after SEPS. Dress is appropriate civilian attire. Spouses are encouraged to attend.

 

Pre-Separation:

a mandatory briefing required by MCO 1754.5 to be taken between 180-90 days before your release date. The briefing is held on the Tuesday prior to TAP. Dress is the uniform of the day. Souses are encouraged to attend.

 

Pre-Retirement:

a mandatory briefing required for retirees is held quarterly. The briefing is a 5 day workshop with the first 2 days as TAP and the last 3 days as an expanded version of pre-separation. Spouses are encouraged to attend. Dress is appropriate civilian attire.
The location is either administered at the Training and Education, Bldg 4335 or the M&FS, Bldg 232.

 

Family Member Employment Assistance Program (FMEAP):

a program designed to enhance career, educational and volunteer opportunities for the military family member Career counseling, assessing job skills, recommended training and transitional life skill classes are offered. The life skill classes will enhance their knowledge, skills and ability while pursing a profession. Resume and cover letter critiques are provided along with strategies on interviewing skills. Resources are available for obtaining information on local and regional employment.

 

Transitional Life Skill Classes are as follows:
Career Exploration: The class provides essential resources in identifying career interest and evaluating skills in support of developing a career plan.
Job Search Strategies: The goals of the class are to introduce the concepts of the labor market and job market, to job search strategies and to identify strategies to use in their job search.
Resume Writing: The goal of this class is to introduce all aspects of written self-marketing tools; business cards, various types of résumés, cover letters and thank you notes. A detailed job description, the nature of the job and detailed action verbs are a focal point in writing a gratifying resume.
Interviewing Skills: The goal is to thoroughly prepare for all interviewing processes and hiring practices which should reduce your stress level. The ability to sell one's self to a potential employer while decreasing distractions and enabling the focus on creating a good impression while being seen a  team member is the key component of success.
Self-Employment: This class is an introduction to basic concepts associated with self-employment. This class is taught by the Service Corp of Retired Executives (SCORE) sponsored by the US Small Business Administration. The class is an ideal career for entrepreneurships by allowing flexibility in juggling your domestic life styles.
Federal Employment System: This class is designed to teach the basics of the Federal Employment system. The goal is to explain the process and give practical information to assist in applying for a federal job.

 

Employment Lab:

provides online job search, resume and cover letter posting and researching company's mission, vision and guiding principles. The lab offers internet and word processing means to organize and systematize a resume, cover letter and application (private and government). A free self-fax for sending and receiving, copier and electric typewriter is available. Resume and cover letter critiques are accessible. Resource material is available for distribution and checkout.
